Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how NAMPS (“NAMPS,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use the NAMPS matrimonial registration platform and related websites, applications, and services (collectively, the “Service”).

NAMPS is operated by volunteers from the North American Malayali Pentecostal community for the benefit of attendees of PCNAC 2026 and the broader community. We are not a commercial dating service, and the Service is not designed to maximize engagement or advertising revenue.

By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you provide directly. When you register and use the Service, we collect:

  • Account identifiers: email address (verified via a one-time numeric code), phone number, and your stated role (registering yourself, your child, your sibling, or a relative/friend with their consent).
  • Profile information about you or the person you are registering: first name, last name, date of birth, gender, height, education, occupation, immigration status, denomination/church, city and state of residence, a free-text description, marriage preferences, and a profile photo.
  • Communications you send to us, including email, support requests, and reports of misconduct.
  • Records of actions you take on the Service relevant to operating it — for example, that you sent or accepted a request to exchange contact details, or that an admin approved your photo.

1.2 Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and authentication providers automatically log limited technical information when you visit the Service: your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, operating system, the page or feature you accessed, and the date and time of access. This information is used to operate, secure, and debug the Service. We do not use this information for behavioral profiling or advertising.

1.3 Information from third parties. We do not buy or receive personal information about you from data brokers, social-media platforms, or other third parties. The information we hold about you comes directly from you.

1.4 Sensitive information. Some of the information you may provide could be considered sensitive under applicable law — notably your religious affiliation (denomination/church), immigration status, and identifying photographs. By submitting this information through the Service, you explicitly consent to our processing of it for the purposes described in this Policy.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your matrimonial profile and let you edit it.
  • Verify your identity (via one-time email codes today, and potentially text-message verification later) and authenticate your sessions.
  • Enable the mutual-consent contact-exchange feature: when you and another member both accept a request, the contact phone number you designated is shared with that member, and theirs with you.
  • Allow our admin moderators to review profiles and photos before they go live, and to verify identity through your home congregation when relevant.
  • Send you transactional emails relating to your account: photo review outcomes, account security alerts, and changes to these terms.
  • Send you community communications related to PCNAC 2026 and future NAMPS events. You may opt out of community communications without affecting transactional emails.
  • Investigate and respond to reports of misconduct or potential violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and property of NAMPS, our members, and the public.

3. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK users)

If you are located in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar legal frameworks, we rely on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you signed up for (most operational uses above).
  • Your consent — for processing of sensitive information (religion, immigration status, identifying photos) and for non-transactional emails. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or emailing us.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the platform.
  • Legal obligations — when required to comply with applicable law.

4. How we share information

4.1 With other NAMPS members. Your basic profile information (name, age, photo, denomination, city, description, marriage preferences) is visible to other authenticated NAMPS members. Your contact phone number is not shared with another member unless and until you both accept a mutual request to exchange contact details. Your email address is never shared with other members.

4.2 With service providers. The following providers process information on our behalf, under written contractual obligations:

  • Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and email-OTP delivery infrastructure.
  • Cloudflare — photo storage (R2 object storage); private buckets, no public access.
  • Resend — outbound transactional and community email delivery.
  • Netlify — web hosting and serverless function execution.
  • GitHub — source-code hosting (no end-user data is stored here).

We do not sell, rent, license, or otherwise commercially distribute your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners. We do not run advertising on the Service.

4.3 For legal reasons. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with a valid legal process (subpoena, court order); (b) enforce these Terms; (c) protect the safety of any person; (d) prevent fraud or abuse; or (e) protect our rights or property.

4.4 Business transfers. If NAMPS is ever merged with or acquired by another organization, we will require the successor to honor this Policy, and we will notify affected users by email before any transfer of personal information occurs.

5. International data transfers

Our service providers operate primarily in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. We rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards where required by applicable law for transfers from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of essential cookies to operate the Service:

  • Authentication cookies set by our authentication provider to keep you signed in across page views. Without these, you would have to re-enter your code every time.
  • Security cookies for cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection.

We do notuse advertising cookies, third-party marketing pixels, behavioral-tracking cookies, or any analytics that fingerprint individual users. We honor browser “Do Not Track” signals where technically feasible and recognized.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, photos, and identifying information within thirty (30) days, subject to two exceptions:

  • We may retain anonymized operational logs (e.g., “a request was sent on this date”) for up to twelve (12) months for abuse prevention and aggregate analysis.
  • We will retain information longer if required by law (e.g., in response to a preservation order) or if the information is the subject of an active investigation into a violation of our Terms.

8. Your rights and choices

8.1 Universal rights. Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Access your information by visiting Profile → Edit, or by emailing us for a full export.
  • Correct inaccuracies by editing your profile or by emailing us.
  • Delete your account and associated data by emailing namcs.community@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my NAMPS account.” We will confirm receipt within seven (7) days and complete the deletion within thirty (30) days.
  • Opt out of community emails using the unsubscribe link in any community email. Transactional and account-security emails cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

8.2 California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), you may have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) correct inaccurate information; (d) limit our use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, email us as described above.

8.3 EU/UK/EEA residents. Under the GDPR / UK GDPR, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction of processing, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email us. We will respond within thirty (30) days.

8.4 Other jurisdictions. Residents of other U.S. states (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, etc.) and other countries may have additional statutory rights. Email us and we will honor any rights granted by your applicable law.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including: encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest for the database and photo storage, row-level security policies that prevent users from reading other users’ private fields, minimal access controls for admins (with audit trails), and routine security updates.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, email us immediately at namcs.community@gmail.com.

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any required regulators without undue delay and in accordance with applicable law.

10. Children's privacy

The Service is intended only for adults (18 years of age or older) seeking marriage. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Account creation requires you to confirm your age, and any account found to belong to a minor will be removed promptly. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, please email us.

11. Third-party links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services we do not operate (for example, links in community announcements). This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party before providing them with personal information.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the “Effective date” at the top of this Policy. Your continued use of the Service after the new effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy. If you do not agree, you may delete your account before the changes take effect.

13. Contact us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests about this Policy or our handling of your information:

Email: namcs.community@gmail.com

We aim to respond to all privacy-related inquiries within seven (7) business days.
